Bentonite and zeolite are aluminium silicate minerals that can occur together naturally, but each has distinct properties.   Bentonite is a water-swelling clay used in dam sealing, clumping cat litter, pelletising applications and drilling mud, where its flow properties are especially useful.

Grade & Table Specifications

The table below shows our two bentonite grades: ECCABOND N, a powder for general industrial use, and ECCACAT, a granular grade suited to cat litter.    Swelling index and cation exchange capacity (Cation EC) indicate absorbency and reactivity: ECCABOND N's higher swelling index and Cation EC suit it to general applications requiring stronger binding or suspension properties, while ECCACAT's granular form and lower swelling index suit absorbent litter use.

Grade Type Swelling index (ml/2g) Cation EC (meq/100ml) Applications Stocked In
ECCABOND N powder 25 76 General CPT
ECCACAT granules 15 65 Cat Litter #

technical highlights

Key Performance Benefits

High swelling capacity

ECCABOND N's swelling index of 25ml/2g drives its suspension and binding performance in general industrial applications, where rheology control matters.

Strong cation exchange capacity

Values of 76 (ECCABOND N) and 65 (ECCACAT) meq/100g support absorption and binding, key for both industrial use and the odour/moisture control needed in cat litter.

Natural absorbency

Bentonite's clay structure absorbs liquids effectively, the core property behind ECCACAT's cat litter application.

Form flexibility

Available as fine powder (ECCABOND N) or coarser granules (ECCACAT), letting the same mineral serve both industrial processing and consumer absorbent products.
